Musical Director: Dennis Simons
Leader: Helena Todd
Abergavenny Orchestral Society is one of the oldest amateur orchestras in the UK and we now perform under the title Abergavenny Symphony Orchestra. We are a community orchestra with members of all ages who come from a 40 mile radius. We have weekly rehearsals during school term time and play a wide variety of music, mainly focused towards performing 3 main concerts per year, plus a free children’s concert to give children a flavour of live orchestral music. Occasional orchestral workshops allow us to pull in players from a wider area and looks at some larger scale works.
We rehearse on Sunday evenings, 6.30 – 9.00 pm at the Dance Hall (Dance Blast), Pen y Pound, Abergavenny, NP7 5YT. Check here for directions.
We very much regret that we have had to cancel our March and June concerts. This is extremely disappointing for us as it will be for you, but we have to take the public health issue seriously and we believe it would have been irresponsible to proceed in the current circumstances.
At this stage we are unable to say when we will be able to resume rehearsals. We will update this page when we have further information.
Regrettably we have had to cancel this concert due to the coronavirus measures.
