Dennis Simons, Ph.D., F.R.A.M. has become President of Abergavenny Orchestral Society after retiring as our Music Director in 2020. We are fortunate to have such a distinguished musician as the society’s president. Dennis was founder leader of the Alberni String Quartet, co-leader of the London Philharmonic Orchestra and leader of the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra. He has performed as solo violinist on three continents and has given over 20 solo broadcasts for the BBC. As a conductor he has worked in the UK, North America, Europe and Australia. The four years in which he conducted Abergavenny Orchestral Society forged a great bond, and we are delighted that Dennis’s involvement with the society can continue in this new role.
