Eugene Monteith (2012 – 2014)

Eugene read music at Queens University, Belfast before going on to study conducting with David Jones, Adrian Partington, Simon Halsey and Neil Ferris at The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, graduating with a PG Diploma in Orchestral Conducting and an MA in Choral Conducting.

He has participated in master classes with Jac van Steen and BBC National Orchestra of Wales; Kenneth Kiesler and the Berlin Sinfonietta (supported by Arts Council for Northern Ireland); and David Agler at Wexford Festival Opera. Eugene also spent the summer of 2006 as a student of George Hurst, Rodolfo Saglimbeni, Robert Houlihan and Denise Ham at Canford Summer School of Music.

Since leaving ASO, Eugene has gone on to win the 2015 ESB Feis Ceoil RTÉ Concert Orchestra Orchestral Conducting Competition, and has made his debut with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, the Ulster Orchestra and the RTÉ Concert Orchestra.
